Overview

ZunoTales is an AI-powered storytelling platform designed to help children learn through personalized stories, interactive experiences, and engaging educational content. Vyzion Innovations delivered both the iOS and Android applications for ZunoTales, along with full In-App Purchase implementation for both platforms. The client had a clear vision but was facing technical and compliance challenges that were preventing the app from going live on the App Store and Play Store.

02

The Challenge

The client's core product was a web-based platform that they wanted to deliver as a native mobile app on both iOS and Android. This created a unique and complex set of challenges that went far beyond a standard app submission:

  • The app needed to embed the client's website inside a native WebView — but Apple and Google do not allow subscription payments to be processed through external web payment gateways inside an app. Native In-App Purchase (IAP) was mandatory.
  • The client already had paying web users. We had to build a cross-platform subscription sync system so users who purchased on the web could access the app without paying again — and vice versa. This entire entitlement bridge was managed through Firebase.
  • Since the app used third-party login, Sign in with Apple was mandatory per Apple's guidelines — without it, the app would be rejected. We had to build full native authentication flows including Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, email signup, login, and forgot password — all native, outside the WebView.
  • In-App Purchases on iOS required StoreKit 2 integration with RevenueCat for subscription lifecycle management, while Android required Google Play Billing — both had to be implemented, tested in sandbox, and validated against Firebase to sync entitlements.
  • Google Play requires a mandatory closed testing phase with a minimum of 14 testers for at least 14 days before an app is eligible for production release. We coordinated and managed this entire testing period.
  • Both the iOS and Android apps faced compliance and configuration issues — the iOS app had been rejected multiple times by Apple, while the Android app had incorrect Play Console setup. We resolved all issues on both platforms, corrected App Store Connect and Google Play Console configurations, and handled the full resubmission process for each.
03

Native Authentication Implementation

We implemented a secure and seamless authentication system including Sign in with Apple (required for App Store compliance), Google Login integration, and email-based signup and login with a complete backend authentication flow. This ensured a smooth onboarding experience and full compliance with Apple's policies.

04

Subscription & In-App Purchase Setup

To simplify subscription management across both platforms, we integrated RevenueCat and configured the full IAP system — including auto-renewable subscription setup, product creation in both App Store Connect and Google Play Console, pricing tiers and subscription groups, purchase validation and lifecycle management, and sandbox testing and debugging on iOS and Android. This provided a single, stable, and scalable monetization system covering both platforms ready for growth.

05

App Store & Play Store Compliance and Submission

We resolved all technical and compliance issues for both platforms. For iOS, we fixed rejected builds, corrected App Store Connect configuration, and ensured full adherence to Apple guidelines — handling metadata, screenshots, and direct communication with the Apple review team until the app was approved. For Android, we managed the full Google Play submission process including the mandatory closed testing phase — Google now requires a minimum of 14 testers for at least 14 days before an app is eligible for production release. We coordinated this entire testing period and handled the production rollout once the requirement was fulfilled.

06

Product Experience

ZunoTales delivers a seamless and engaging user experience with personalized story generation, AI-powered illustrations, voice narration for stories, interactive learning experiences, and a dedicated onboarding flow for parents and educators.

07

Results

Both the iOS and Android apps were successfully launched on the App Store and Google Play Store with a fully functional subscription system and zero compliance issues. The mandatory Google Play closed testing phase was completed with 14 testers over 14 days, clearing the path to production. Improved onboarding and user experience was delivered on both platforms within the client's budget.

08

Business Impact

After launch, the client was able to start generating revenue through subscriptions, focus on content and user growth, avoid technical complexities of the Apple ecosystem, and build a scalable product for future expansion.
